Baby Penguins: The Latest Books from Penguin Publishing

Welcome to our regular round-up of the latest book releases. This time we’re taking a look at what’s new and hot from Penguin Publishing. So, lets jump right in, bibliophiles.

    Strike: Sylo Chronicles #3 by D.J.MacHale (@DJMacHale  / Author Site )

Strike (which incidentally has one of the best fiction covers I’ve ever seen) is the new book from New York Times bestselling author D.J MacHale, and the third book in the Sylo series. The books follow Tucker Pierce and friends as they fight to survive against SYLO. For my reckoning, this is the best book in the series yet, with amazing plot twists and gripping action. This is bound to thrill fans of the series.

If you’re new to the SYLO series, you can expect fast paced action that will leave you breathless.

Premise / Synopsis: A secret branch of the U.S Navy quarantines a town that suffered an outbreak of a lethal virus. But there’s more to them than there seems.

. . . actually thinking about it that premise isn’t exactly realistic. I mean, Ebola breaks out and the politicians let infected people fly free, willy-nilly. But for some reason they blockade this entire town for a virus. . . c’mon… … c’mon.

Poetry Collection: Mary Oliver’s Blue Horses  (@ MaOlPoetry)

Mary Oliver is a treasure. She’s won the National Book Award and the Pulitzer Prize. She’s America’s bestselling poet, and she’s one of the best poets in the world today. So naturally you should be pretty flipping excited about her new poetry book Blue Horses.

In Blue Horses Mary Oliver returns to her best, describing the beauty of nature with the most stunning imagery.

Reading this work you’ll be carried away with meditations on love, art, impermanence and more. Truly exquisite work not to be missed.

Chris Jericho: The Best In The World

Yes, you read the title correctly. Chris Jericho’s new book is called The Best in the World. Though, obviously, we all know that the true best in the world is CM Punk.

Still, Chris Jericho is pretty awesome. He’s one of the biggest wrestling stars of all time. He’s a metal rocker. And he’s a writer. In fact, he’s actually a pretty good writer—probably the WWE’s second best, next to Mick Foley.

In The Best in the World Chris Jericho shares insights into his amazing career, including a look at the Mickey Rourke controversy, his amazing feud with HBK, his encounters with Metallica, Mike Tyson, Bob Barker and others, and a lot more.

This is one of the better books to have come out of the WWE. Wrestling fans would do well to read it.

The Creature Department (@Robert Paul Weston / Author Website)

Okay. Let’s get one thing straight. The book cover for The Creature Department is absolutely stunning. I mean, look at it, it’s freaking beautiful! Eh I could talk about this cover forever; the use of lighting, the contrast in light and shade. . . it’s just, amazing.

But anyway, the book. Because inside that cover there’s actually a book as well (as though the cover wasn’t enough in itself).  It’s a beautiful story that’s a lot like Monster INC. With tons of different creatures that kids are going to love. The storytelling is absolutely adorable, the sort of thing Disney would make at their absolute best. Love it!
