Games with the Best Graphics

Making a list of games with the be st graphics is no mean feat. After all, it’s hard to state exactly what “good graphics” are. For some, graphics are only about realism–the more realistic a game is the better its graphics are. But this opinion discounts a great many artistic games that intentionally use surrealistic graphics.

While a title in the Gran Turismo series might be said to be realistic, it isn’t neccessarily graphically better than the new indie game Badland, which employ an extremely artistic use of graphics in order to create an evocative atmosphere.

In our list of the games with the best graphics we’ve aim to include both games with extremely realistic graphics and games which use their graphics artistically to create a highly unique feel or look.

So, what’s the first game in our list of games with the best graphics?

Games with the best graphics #1: Killzone 3

Killzone 3 create a sense of realism with characters, environments and characters that look extremely solid. It also uses a unique art style that creates a highly unique and evocative atmosphere. Bathed in deep brown colours, Killzone 3 creates a moody atmosphere that really serves to get you hooked into the game’s world. It’s also full of amazing set-pieces that really leap out of the screen.

Games with the Best Graphics #2: Trine 2

Trine 2 is definitely one of the title in this list that falls into the artistic category of graphics. The art style in Trine 2 is extremely imaginative, with various scenes from beaches to forests coming to life with dazzling colour and exquisite detail.

Games with the Best Graphics 3: Skyrim (ILoveLydia Mod Image)

Skyrim is a graphical masterpiece. If video games had a place at the national Gallery of Art, Skyrim would be a star of the show. Of course, graphics are imperative to a game like Syrim. Where some games can get away with mediocre graphics, Skyrim needs to look truly beautiful in order to invite you into the adventure and magic of its fantasy realm. Needless to say, it succeeds with flying colours.

Games with Best Graphics 4: The Witcher 2

The Witcher 2 is a master of attention to detail. If English Romantic artist John Constable came in video game form, he’d probably look a lot like Witcher 2. Every single scene, character and item has been created with artistic love, creating a sense of realism that very very few games achieve.

Games with Best Graphics 5: Uncharted 3

Uncharted needs great graphics much in the same way that Witcher 2 does, because unless you can be led to believe in the environments of the game you’re not going to want to explore it. Well, Uncharted 3 is one game you’ll want to explore time and time again. Uncharted 3 is probably the closest that video games have ever come to evoking the sensations of Hollywood. This is a AAA title + 1.

Games with Best Graphics 6: Gears of War 3

Gears of War 3 is beautiful. Not beautiful in the clean and Hollywood-style of Uncharted 3. Not beautiful in the artistic sense of Trine 2. Not even beautiful in the ultra-realistic sense of Witcher 2. Gears of War 3 is beautiful in a dirty, gritty, disheveled way. When you play Gears of War 3 you can feel the mud on your boots and taste the blood in your mouth. It’s earthy, weighty, gruesome and ass-kickingly awesome.

Games with Best Graphics 7: . Super Mario Galaxy 2

It would be hard to find a game any more different to Gears of War 3. Where GOW3 was gritty and dirty, Super Mario Galaxy 2 is as squeeky clean and super-cute as the finest of Disney movies. You can virtually taste that sweet candy feel of Super Mario Galaxy 2 on your tongue. Its so bright, colourful and cheerful that it feels like you’re snuggling a thousand Pomeranian puppies at one time. Now that’s cute, that’s super cute!

Games with Best Graphics 8:  Battlefield 3

If realism is what you’re looking for in your graphics then you’ll surely be a huge fan of Battlefield 3. Battlefield 3 recreates a warzone more faithfully than any other game. Those bullets you’re firing look like they hurt. The wounds soldiers suffer look painful. The environments look like they leaped right out of the BBC News. It’s not easy being the best looking FPS out there, but we think Battlefield 3 comes close, if not makes it, to the acclaimed position of the best looking first person shooter out there.
