Journey was the biggest winner of the BAFTA Video Game Awards, winning a total of five awards (more than any other game).
The game that furthered the artistry of game development found the applause it so richly deserved
It would be hard to argue with the awards Journey received. It won for Best Game Design, Best Online Multiplayer, Best Artistic Achievement, Best Audio Achievement and Best Original Music.
Journey was welcomed as an innovation in gaming when it was released in Spring of last year. Many video game critics saw Journey as a development in the art of video game development.
There’s something about Journey that makes it stand out above other games. Perhaps its the scintillating sense of atmosphere, or, as Forbes wrote, maybe it’s the need for comraderie, the sense of needing help as you face the struggles provided by the game.
Journey we a work of art. Where so many games lack imagination or genuine creative effort, Journey took ahold of video game development and turned it to something new, and it’s great to see Journey’s achievements being recognised by such a respect body as BAFTA.
